2006
Belgium trip
In August
2006 Berkshire Bedlam and The Outside Capering Crew joined together
under the name 'The Big Caper' to take part in the Ka-Dans Festival in
Belgium ..... |
The Big
Caper - Berkshire Bedlam and ...... |
......
The Outside Capering Crew |
The opening
ceremony in the centre of Torhout - Sue and Jerry present our offering
..... |
.....
and then everyone mills around for a bit ...... |
..... and
then we get on with Lucky Pierre ..... |
.....
before claiming this corner of Belgium for Great Britain |
At the
KaDans Festival, BB on an outdoor stage at Wijnendale Castle where ..... |
.....
we had carefully translated "aaargh" into Flemish beforehand
(similar but more phlegm) ..... |
The big
finish from the combined sides |
The
musicians (Lawrence, Mark, Sue and Bob) take their deserved bow |
And
afterwards Jameson tells Andy about the new toothpaste he's been trying |
Meanwhile
the same musicians (plus Jerry) play to an otherwise empty
courtyard |
Next day, a
performance in the church at Wijnendale ..... |
.....
for which Simon and Yvonne had produced the most immaculate coconuts
we'd ever seen ..... |
.... which we
proceeded to smash to smithereens .... |
.....
and took great delight in doing so |
Another big
finish for everyone - featuring Jerry in flight |
The
next day, we are introduced by the comperes before our performance |
The show
gets under way with a joint Princess Royal ..... |
.....
and progresses with a Knees Up for everyone.... |
.... and
ends with another joint flying finish |
A
'fraternization evening' - Andy with chef, 'Mr. Barbeque', who has seen
a few kebabs in his time |
Some of the
facilities (in the churchyard) were fully air conditioned |
While
in Belgium, we felt compelled to do 'Wizo the Flem' - once |
On our day
off we went to Bruges - where it rained ..... |
......
continuously. Of course it never rains on Berkshire Bedlam, but this was
The Big Caper ..... |
On the
Tuesday we were at another castle ..... |
..... where
it started to rain again ..... |
.....
especially when the vintage cars went by (the point of us being there!) |
But the
weather improved later and we roped in German Peter to help us |
Sue, it's OK
when you're on holiday, but don't even think about it back in England |
Our last
day, and an evening trip to the coast at De Panne ..... |
..... where
we performed in this theatre ..... |
..... on
this impressive stage ..... |
..... where
we Mazurka'd .... |
...... and
Coconutted .... |
..... and
Simon led us and the audience in this interesting hovering move ..... |
.....
before we Sworded ..... |
.....
finishing our tour with our now customary joint big finish |
Back at the
departure party, we got a plaque from the organisers ..... |
..... and
gifts from the Hungarians ..... |
..... and Tim
worked on his souvenir hangover |
