August arrived, and for many of the team the first week of August always means the Sidmouth Folk Festival. This year no less than 12 BBs were at the Festival at various times, there as one or more of dancers with other teams, musicians with other teams, ceilidh band member, dance team organiser, processions organiser, Childrens Festival leader, other team partner, or just having a nice time. With these various commitments it wasn’t possible this year to get a BB team together on the Esplanade on the Sunday as happens some years, but instead we did have a team to tour the length of the seafront on the Tuesday evening (4th August). And for this we were joined firstly by Rhys, moonlighting from his rest-of-week-job with Clausentum Morris, and secondly by our former member Rob, who showed us that he had remembered many of the dances and most of the ones he was in…
Post Sidmouth there was quite a break before our next event on Sat 5th September, the always excellent and it seems ever expanding Wallingford Bunkfest. Another sunny day with dance spots for us in the Bullcroft, High Street, The Dolphin, and the Market Square where we were joined by Fools Gambit for a mighty Cavalier. The day ended with our now customary afternoon tea/picnic on the banks of the Thames, with special guests Sue (formerly of this parish) and Andrew – great to see them both!
More Festivals!
