We then had a series of excellent Thursday evening pub sessions with other splendid local-ish teams, taking advantage of the unnaturally warm and dry summer. Firstly on Thurs 7th July, an evening with Taeppas Tump at the George on the Green, Holyport – a beautiful sunny evening in a great setting. The following Thursday we were at The Bell at Aldworth for another good evening with Old Speckled Hen, and then on Tuesday 26th July it was The Plough at Little London for an evening with Basingclog.
This was the prelude to a busy August, with many of the team at the Sidmouth Folk Festival at the beginning of August in various guises – performing, stewarding, musicianing, or just-having-a-good-time-ing. But enough of the team managed to get together for a while on the Sunday morning for a customary appearance on the Esplanade, where we were delighted to see our melodeon-ista Sue out with us for the first time for a while. And later that day, success for Jameson and Emma, accompanied by Tom, in the double jig competition – winners not only of the competition but also the audience appeal prize!
